Ms.Julie Moore currently serves Cashion Schools as Special Education Director, Federal Programs Director, and Elementary Principal. She loves the rural school setting and the connections made with staff, students, and families. Ms. Moore began her career in 1997 as an elementary teacher with Lubbock ISD teaching 6th grade ELA and Social Studies. In 2000, she returned to Oklahoma serving Western Heights Schools as an ELA teacher and Reading Coach for 5 years. In 2002, she was named Winds West Elementary Teacher of the Year and SW Oklahoma City Teacher of the Year. In 2005, she opened a private school in Oklahoma City where she served as Academic Director until 2010; returning to public education serving Moore and El Reno school districts as an assistant principal. While at El Reno, she participated in the Partnership for Leaders and School Turnaround at the University of Virginia, a program for low performing schools. In 2014, she was hired by Mustang Schools as the ELA Curriculum Coordinator working with PK-12 teachers and administrators training them in the areas of effective reading and writing instruction. She partnered with teachers to develop standards aligned curriculum guides, report cards, and assessments. She was an active member of the ELA Consortium, ELA Standards Review Team and ACT Aspire Alignment Team. She worked with the state to align OAAP standards and ELA Standards. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Southern Nazarene University. She has plans to pursue her doctorate at SNU. She is an active member of CCOSA, including Oklahoma Association Elementary School Principals, and Oklahoma Director of Special Services. She holds professional memberships with ASCD, OASCD, and Learning Forward: The Professional Learning Organization. Ms. Moore comes from a family of educators and is actively involved with Special Olympics Oklahoma for 30 years. She currently serves as the Young Athletes Director for Oklahoma. Julie and husband Scott have 3 children. Taylor and husband Tyler Smithwick, Zachary Moore, and Ashton Moore. Taylor currently teaches Pre-K for Edmond Schools, Zachary serves as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Union Public Schools in Tulsa, and Ashton will be a sophomore at Cashion High School where he plays football, basketball and golf. He’s hoping the Cashion Fishing Team makes a comeback this year.
